The Hearn Foundation has generously agreed to continue its support of undergraduate scholarships at Trinity Laban for the next three academic years (2025 – 2028). The scholarships will support contemporary dance and musical theatre students for the tenure of their undergraduate degree.
The scholarships being funded are:
- The Mirella Bartrip Scholarship (in memory of Trinity Laban’s former Director of Dance) – awarded to the two best UK-based contemporary dance auditionees for the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance.
- The Hearn Foundation Scholarship – awarded to the best UK-based musical theatre auditionee for BA (Hons) Musical Theatre.
Sofia Wilson (third-year Contemporary Dance student, and recipient of the Mirella Bartrip Scholarship) said – “Without the Mirella Bartrip Scholarship throughout my time on the BA (Hons) Contemporary Dance, I would not have been able to study at Trinity Laban. I am very grateful to The Hearn Foundation for supporting this scholarship, which has enabled me to follow my dreams of becoming a professional dancer.”
The Hearn Foundation also supports Trinity Laban’s International Artist in Voice, Irish soprano Ailish Tynan, and the annual Hearn Competition for vocal studies. This year’s competition took place on 25 March 2025 at the Hearn Recital Room, Blackheath Halls, won by Natasha Elliott, with Imogen Woodhead and Minglu Gao as runners up. The Hearn Foundation has renewed this support for a further 3 years up to and including the academic year 2027/28.
Trinity Laban offers a wide range of scholarships to help students reach their full potential. They can be awarded: for outstanding performance ability; for particular disciplines; to remove barriers to access; for underrepresented or disadvantaged students.
